New Nurses Christian Fellowship Director Announced
News Release
For Immediate Release
(Madison, WI) — Barney Ford, Vice President at ÂÌñÒùÆÞ Christian Fellowship, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Patricia Emery as Director of Nurses Christian Fellowship (NCF). Ms. Emery’s formal duties as Director will begin in the Fall of 2007.
Ms. Emery has more than 25 years of ministry and nursing leadership experience that prepares her for this season of NCF leadership. As a former ÂÌñÒùÆÞ staff worker and a long time NCF volunteer, she is not a stranger to ÂÌñÒùÆÞ and its mission. Ms. Emery comes to us most recently from Mennonite Memorial Home in Ohio where she served as the Director of Nursing.
Emery received her BSN at Wayne State University in Michigan. After 2 years as ÂÌñÒùÆÞ â€“ NCF staff in Pennsylvania, Ms. Emery went on to get her MSN from Northern Illinois University.
Mary Thompson, NCF’s current Director will complete her responsibilities on June 30, 2007. ÂÌñÒùÆÞ has requested that Ms. Thompson continue on ÂÌñÒùÆÞ staff, with a special assignment related to NCF Alumni and Friends and their support of NCF for the next year and she will report to Mr. Ford.
In the interim, NCF will be led starting July 1, 2007 by Dr. Harriet Coeling. Dr. Coeling is a member of both the National Advisory Committee and Ohio NCF Council. She also brings a wealth of leadership and nursing expertise from her more than 20 years of experience teaching nursing at collegiate and graduate levels. Most recently Dr. Coeling served as the Director of the Graduate Nursing Adult Program at Kent State University.
The Lord has been very gracious to answer many prayers during this search process. Special thanks are due to the Search Advisory Committee (Terry Morrison, Harriet Coeling, Jane Hall and Judy Shelly) and the NCF Staff Leadership Team (Grace Tazelaar, Sandra Jamison, Ruth Snapp, Jane Hall and Judy Shelly).
NCF began in the early 1940’s when small groups of Christian nurses in several cities began meeting to pray and support each other. These groups eventually joined together, and became a national ministry of ÂÌñÒùÆÞ Christian Fellowship in 1948. NCF continues to encourage students, faculty and nurses to explore and connect Christian faith and nursing, and provide resources that help nurses and students practice nursing from a Christian worldview.
