When we refuse to give in to the desire for money and possessions, we short circuit the systems of this world.

Does God care about what we do for our jobs? What sort of work do we hope our college degree will prepare us for? This series of small groups explore these questions. Let’s talk about how we integrate our beliefs about God or religious faith into our potential careers. Christianity suggests that the mission of God is to renew and reconcile all things. That means all things matter, and all jobs matter. All studies begin with a conversation starter and most include a video. Then we’ll study and discuss a passage of scripture and action steps.

COVID, a lack of in-person relationships, the ongoing realities of racism, patriarchy, income disparity, and climate change — the world can feel like a dumpster fire. Scary to watch from a distance but devastating when you’re standing in the middle of it.

Should pay be the only factor in the summer job you choose? What’s God’s perspective? Is there anything in the Bible that can guide what kind of job we pursue?

All this begs the question: how do we allow the good news about Jesus to take on the beauty and diversity of other cultures without infusing beliefs that are contrary to the gospel?
